Beyond the Map’s Edge
Over 500 treasure hunters listened in on a Q/A with Justin Posey on 9/4. This was hosted by Tyler Young on X’s Dark Matters of the State channel. Tyler happens to be Justin’s friend (Taylor Long) - the one mentioned in the story ‘The Dubious Decision’ of the book.
There were three hours of questions and answers. You can listen to the two parts here: Part 1 and Part 2.
In Monday’s Newsletter (dedicated to BTME) I’ll go more in depth on the insights gained from the Q/A’s - but for now here are the top 10 Highlights!
When asked about the 42 on his taillight Justin said he didn’t want to comment too much other than to say, “The Hitchhiker’ Guide to the Galaxy’ is a fantastic book.”
I think the fact he mentions the book, and it is known the number 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything - that Justin hints to the fact the number 42 and not 4 over 2, or the numbers separate, is the clue.
In another Q on 42 Justin said it was not related to LOST, but chose not to specify whether connected to a Bible verse.
He said: “Every line in the poem is helpful.” (don’t discount any)
When asked how far is ‘her face from the place’ - Justin said, “it’s probably not as far as many people might think.”
When asked about the Netflix clock times and if they were intentional. Justin said, “I think at this point it’s clear that the clock is prominent, there were various times shown, and they do have some meaning – to my uncertain knowledge no one has figured out what they mean yet but I like to think people are getting close.”
Justin commented, “Going out and being in the areas that I intended you to be in are a vital part of the treasure hunt. You will not solve this in its complete entirety from home. It’s not possible. But there is a significant portion that can be solved at home that will give you a base level of confidence for you to go and check it out.”
When asked if the ‘200 footers’ were searchers - he said he hasn’t specified
Justin - to his uncertain knowledge - said no one has solved the cipher (and only 1, out of the US, has solved the technical clue (In another Q on the tech clue he said having certain backgrounds is beneficial)
When asked about first and second stanza being solved - Justin said, “Certainly, the first stanza - I think the large portion has been solved – the second stanza - at least half of it has been solved”
Will additional books seen in Netflix be helpful? Justin said ‘yes’ but did not specify what books.
When asked about a ‘lead searcher’ - Justin said, “I think there is a categorically certain line of thinking, where people in that camp, are probably making more tangible progress than others.”
How is the poem created to be - linear, numerous geographic locations miles apart, hybrid, etc.? Justin only wanted to say it is part of the mystery and puzzle. But went on to say, ‘I think there are some great movies out there to watch - Indiana Jones and National Treasure.’
Justin was asked about the ‘right question’ - which was not asked in the Dillon book signing. So, the question was asked, can you provide the distance from the first actionable clue to treasure? Justin said he thought ‘It’s probably the best use of time for someone to formulate the right question to ask - and just by going through that process you might find the answer.’
Not worthwhile to try different URL endings to the website
Justin was asked if he took the 4 trips in one day - he didn’t want to answer
More on Monday on the Q/A - so much good stuff!
There’s Treasure Inside
I dedicate each Weds. edition of this newsletter to more in-depth topics about TTI. However, here are 3 brief ideas discussed during the week about the hunt - in case you missed them:
Lion’s Share Box: The image on page 179 of the Apotheosis of Hercules - refers to his transformation on Mount Olympus - might it hint to Mount Olympus, Washington?
Pokémon Box: Does Jazz Bar hint to Jasper, AR - as a sound alike clue?
Past and Future Box: Although Jon said we may ignore all 3 letter words in the WS- what about 2? Is that hint that the leftover State abbreviations for TN, NC, SC seen in the WS after finding the secret message are not to be ignored? (suggesting a general location for the box?)
Moonrise: Weekend Hunt in Boston
