Six Questions, Treasure Facts, and Adventure
Happy Friday 13th Everyone! Things are picking up in the treasure hunting world - adventures await!
Adventurers’ Club with Dan Barbarisi
I recently watched Dan Barbarisi in his interview on searching for Forrest Fenn’s treasure hosted by the Adventurer’s Club.
Something he said struck me – he talked about how legendary treasure is a shrinking commodity – the more found the less there is to find. And how some lost treasures – like those of sunken ships or in faraway lands or on remote islands – can’t easily be searched for by everyday people.
So, the idea that people, like Forrest Fenn, Dirk Gibson, and here soon, Jon Collins-Black, create incredible million-dollar hunts that the everyday person can enjoy is commendable.
They offer the thrill of the chase for any who want to take it up.
There are also smaller hunts, and those creators provide the thrill of the chase too!
The Great US Treasure Hunt
It’s been announced that a third round of The Great US Treasure Hunt is happening. To date, over $45,000 has been given away to searchers via these hunts.
Here’s a summary of TGUSTH for fall 2024:
Releases 10/15 – preorder book on TGUSTH website
Clues within the book
BOTG required (must physically retrieve a proxy item)
10 different treasures, each $1000 in cash, spread across the US – with one in either Alaska or Hawaii.
I had the opportunity to chat with Dave from The Great US Treasure Hunt. I asked him Six Questions on the upcoming hunt, but also a bit about treasure hunting in general.
I appreciated his answer on what advice he might give searchers for his hunt. He mentioned, “Have confidence in yourself that you can solve this puzzle……”
It’s known The Great US Treasure Hunt creators strive to make the puzzles solvable by all. They may be ‘creatively tough, but fair.’ You don’t need to be a genius to solve the clues.
Consider how the first hunts were solved. Each chapter contained clues to reveal phrases. These phrases led to the location of the hidden proxy item, which needed retrieved to claim the cash - $10,000 each.
Chapter 1:

Chapter 2:

There’s Treasure Inside Facts
As time gets closer to the release of There’s Treasure Inside by Jon Collins-Black more information is becoming known. It’s a good idea to keep track of the facts.
I’m keeping a Treasure Facts page for There’s Treasure Inside on the MW website. I’ll update as more facts become known. Below are what I believe to be the top 10 facts from that page.
Some of these facts were just given in the History for Weirdos Interview with JCB
5 different Treasure boxes hidden across the states
Treasure boxes are NOT buried - they are hidden
Shovel or Metal Detector not necessary
No Treasure boxes hidden on Private Property
Clues for the Lion’s Share box scattered throughout the book
NO CLUES within the postscript section of the book where JCB covers safety for the hunt
Clues for smaller boxes (value in six-digits) within their given chapter
JCB said he put at least one clue in his children’s book, Our Unbreakable Thread
There are treasure items from Forrest Fenn’s chest included in the hunt
No more than one treasure box hidden in any one state *
*I want to mention the image of the map in the video showing 5 dissected regions, believed at the time to be the different regions - ARE NOT. In the History for Weirdos interview JCB said that was JUST A GRAPHIC. He does NOT give that much information in the book.
