1) First, what is an armchair treasure hunt?
Armchair treasure hunts are produced hunts with clues to find a hidden treasure. There are many different formats and styles – but the goal is the same:
Clues are provided in a story, video, or some other type of media
Searchers need to solve those clues to discover the final answer
A treasure is claimed - either physically retrieved from its hidden location, or in some hunts – claimed via messaging or other methods.
Lots and lots of treasures are claimed each year! (Here are some found in 2025)

3) Finally, how can I learn more? Can I find a treasure?
Yes, you really can.
Most modern treasure hunts start with a book, a poem, or a set of clues shared online. Anyone can join the adventures.
You begin by researching from home, learning how to recognize clue types, patterns, and hidden meanings (which this newsletter helps you do!!)
Some hunts can be solved entirely from your armchair, while others eventually require boots on the ground to retrieve the treasure.
Every hunt starts the same way - with curiosity. From there, what you discover are real adventures, memories, and treasures!
