There's Treasure Inside Recap on Locations: Over Six Months into the Hunt for Millions!
Where are the hidden treasure boxes - worth millions - thought to be?
There’s Treasure Inside Treasure Hunt
On November 12, 2024, the book, There’s Treasure Inside by Jon Collins-Black was officially released! This book contains all the clues needed to find 5 different treasure boxes hidden across the US. (available on Amazon)
As of now, over six months into the hunt, all 5 treasure boxes - worth millions - remain hidden. None have been announced found.
So, what clues have been found to the boxes? Where are they thought to be hidden? When will the first treasure be found? Why haven’t any been found yet? Who will find the treasure boxes? How are they hidden? So many questions.
Where are the Treasure Boxes Hidden?
To start answering those questions - the hunt needs broken down - box by box - or the post would be way too long.
Jon has remarked how much more difficult it was to hide 5 boxes, instead of only one. The same can be said about keeping up to date on them.
There’s Treasure Inside is not ONE hunt - it is FIVE hunts in ONE BOOK.
I’d like to dig into some deeper details found for each box - so it will take a few posts/newsletters to get through the six-month update! (maybe leading into the one-year update by the time I get them done!)
Nonetheless, for this first post, let’s consider the general locations for each box.
Not much has changed on thoughts (from a previous post) for where the treasure boxes are hidden - EXCEPT the smell of RED HERRING is surfacing.
From the book (and what Jon has since said in interviews) general areas are known for the following 3 treasure boxes.
The Forrest Fenn Box - hidden somewhere in the 4 states of the Rocky Mountains (MT, WY, CO, or NM)
Pokémon Box - hidden not far from a place he visited on family trip he took when he was younger (circular route described in book - Southern region - Began in NC going Southwest through New Orleans to Houston - back past the Ozarks)
The Appalachian Footpath Box - hidden somewhere along the Appalachian Trail
The Past and Future Box and the Lion’s Share box have yet to be pinned down to any one area. (Despite some searchers claiming to ‘know’ all the answers - it still has to be said that until a box is found all options remain - no one knows (except Jon)
One common element seems to be appearing though. The initial locations thought for some boxes are now being questioned. This isn’t for just one of them. This is for all four of the smaller boxes.
Searchers are getting whiffs of red herring. It’s unclear if that is what it is though. Let’s consider.
The Appalachian Footpath Box
The trail on the map was found to exactly match the Green Mountain Trail along the AT in Vermont - wrapping around Little Rock Pond. This, along with many other clues, were found early in the hunt linking this box to VT. Many searchers discovered more items that helped pinpoint a more precise spot in that area.
While the box could definitely still be there, the likely areas have been searched - by multiple searchers with nothing yet found.
This has searchers questioning the purpose of the matched trail being on the map (and other solid clues to the area). Could it have another purpose? Is it a clue used for another location or is it a complete red herring?
And if hidden in the Little Rock Pond area - what clues can lead a searcher to ‘decent proximity’ - since the more obvious ones are not leading to the box being found.
The Pokémon Box
The Hemmed-In Hollow trail - and surrounding area - in Buffalo National River Arkansas, seemed very promising at first. Numerous clues lead there.
Again, like the Appalachian Footpath box, locations hinted to have been searched by multiple searchers. Nothing found.
I’ll share more on these clues, and even other clues to different locations, in the post on each of the Boxes Six-Month Update. I’m just noting the pattern that is arising.
The Past and Future Box
Ohio. Well liked. Obvious connections and clues for this area.
TN/NC and SC. Clearly hinted to as well in the Word Search.
Tahoe. Not so obvious as Ohio- but clues being found to the area.
This is an interesting box. There are clues to multiple areas - but as with the Pokémon Box and the AT Box - initial locations searched are not yielding a treasure box found.
The Forrest Fenn Box
Since the beginning, posts were being made on the MW Discord and Forum about connections in the Forrest Fenn poem being found towards Echo Park in Colorado.
Of course, for all the boxes, there are ideas leading to other areas - which I plan to cover in each box’s six-month overview.
But why haven’t any been found?
Is Weather a Factor?
While the weather certainly can be considered a factor for hindering or slowing down the search for some boxes because of snow cover - it didn’t for all.
The Pokémon Box and even locations for the Past and Future and the AT Box were searched all through the winter months.
So what is going on here? There seems to be a pattern. RED HERRING is being smelt.
Did Jon Intentionally Mislead?
This has searchers wondering if Jon’s thoughts for the hunt were to place red herrings in the puzzles - misleading searchers to a promising area - so that only after searching the initial locations and coming up empty - would they realize they need to look deeper at the clues. The possibly more obscure or less obvious ones.
Do each of these boxes have a seemingly initial surface level solution - but the actual solution for where the box lies hidden requires a deeper dive?
Deep Dive on Treasure Box Clues
That is one of the things I’ll be doing in the coming weeks - taking a deeper dive into the clues being discussed for each box (including the Lion’s Share box) - to try and determine if there is any way to know if something is a clue or a red herring?
And to know what has been happening in the last six months(+) on these boxes…
(Doing this in between the normal weekly recaps on Treasure Hunts, thoughts on other hunts, and also deep dives into how past puzzles have been solved - in order to help solve current hunts!)
